BdU Consulting AG provides various services in the IT sector in cooperation with large and established companies. For the ongoing support of our customers, we are looking for a Hardware Field Supporter with main work location in the Zürich area and field service in the entire German speaking area of Switzerland to join a small team of four people. We provide attractive employment conditions, long term perspective and training as required.

Your profile:

You have support experience and a strong knowledge of HP client/server hardware.

Knowledge and experience with networking hardware (cabling, switches, interfaces, routers, etc.) is a must. You have repaired notebook hardware in the past and at best have experience with POS terminals. As you will be doing work in various locations, a valid Swiss driver’s license category B, as well as your own vehicle is a prerequisite. Due to the nature of the job you are highly flexible and don’t mind doing 7×24 on-call shifts for one week every 2 months. You are a team player, value quality work, are service oriented and like to work in a challenging environment for international customers.

Your tasks will be:

• Operate HP firmware update server
• Hardware repairs and installation of HP servers & blade enclosures
• Hardware maintenance of SUN servers and tape robots
• Replacements of tapes and control of disruptions
• Accompaniment of external technicians
• Fault finding and analysis
• Print out management
• Postal services and transportation
• Inventory of servers and hardware orders
• Control and confirmation of orders in SAP
• Participation in meetings and conference calls
• Patrolling the data centers
• Patching of LAN and SAN cables and patch panels
• Check server cabling according to IP sheets and fix problems if necessary
• Server installation into and de-installation from the rack
• Field service for Lenovo laptops and POS cash registers
• On demand manual tape mount
